Pauline Buldas, 98, of Montpelier, passed away on Sept. 23, 2017 at Evergreen Manor Nursing Home in Montpelier. She was born in Zevgolatio, Corinth Greece in 1919 to John and Marina Andrianos and was the last living of their five children. Like many immigrants of her era, in 1949, she had the strength and courage to leave her family and homeland to escape poverty and a post World War II Civil War. This strength and courage sustained her throughout her 98 years. Widowed in 1963, she raised her three young children. [Read More]

"The last thing I remember about my father was him reaching over the crew. He put his hand on my shoulder and said,... [Read More]

Yemen's civil war will "most likely" require a military solution because of Tehran's influence, the country's Saudi-backed President Abedrabbo Mansour Hadi said on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. "The military solution is the most likely because it is not their (the Huthis') decision to make," he said in an interview with Al-Arabiya television broadcast at the weekend, referring to the rebels and their backers, Iran. "Even if you come to an agreement with them, they call up Iran ... back out, and then you don't have a deal," he said. The interview came just days after... [Read More]

A solution in Yemen's two and-a-half year-old civil war will likely come through military rather than political means, the country's Saudi-backed president said, blaming the Iran-aligned Houthis of obstructing chances of peace. [Read More]

There is an easy solution to the current turmoil about status of Confederate icons.President Trump says that these monuments are a reflection of our history and culture. State Senator Phil Berger says that North Carolina law prohibits removal of Confederate icons from public property.Given that fact, we should make these monuments on the public greens an accurate reflection of our Civil War history.Across from each statue of General Robert E. Lee on horseback, should be... [Read More]

Canons burst as suits of blue and grey marched onto the field at Beckworth Riverfront Park in Marysville to wage war over the fate of the United States. Spectators gathered at the top of a hill to watch the battles, just like the real Civil War, albeit no one died in Saturday's skirmishes at the Battle of Feather River. [Read More]
