Steve Kovach Apple spared no expenses on its new campus, Apple Park, which reportedly cost around $5 billion to construct. Its visitor center opens to non-Apple employees later this month. For example, the on-campus theater where it unveiled the iPhone 8 and X, the Steve Jobs Theater, was equipped with seats that cost $14,000, according to an engineer who worked on the project. Behold what $14,000 of seat looks like: Steve Kovach Thanks to a new story in Wallpaper about Apple Park and Jony Ive, Apple's chief designer who worked... [Read More]
Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of worldwide marketing, announces features of the new iPhone X, including Face ID, at the Steve Jobs Theater in September on the Apple campus in Cupertino, Calif. AP FILE PHOTO NEW YORK — Apple is offering a nifty way to unlock its new iPhone X — just stare at it. Face ID, Apple's name for its facial-recognition technology, replaces the fingerprint sensor found on other models. How well does it work — not just technically, but in everyday use? After all, it's much easier to align your finger with the sensor than to... [Read More]

With a massive screen behind him displaying the text, "iPhone X" Tim Cook hopped on the stage at the Steve Jobs Theater during Apple's September 12 launch event and proclaimed, "This is the iPhone ten." Apple consumers across the globe have been in a tizzy ever since, and not just over the souped-up phone, but over how on earth to pronounce its name. The "X" refers to the Roman numeral 10, not the letter of the alphabet, and is supposed to mark the ten-year anniversary of the release of the original iPhone. But the diction dictate... [Read More]

Steve Wozniak, the legendary coder who developed the first Apple computers, won't rush to get the much anticipated iPhone X. Although "The Woz" typically picks up the latest Apple handset right away, the Apple co-founder told CNBC at the Money 20/20 tech and business conference that he's going to sit this one out — for now. "I'd rather wait and watch that one," Wozniak said. "I'm happy with my iPhone 8 — which is the same as the iPhone 7, which is the same as the iPhone 6, to me. For some reason, the iPhone X is... Apple is putting the finishing touches on its new "spaceship" headquarters, a little over a month after the company invited journalists and guests to its on-campus theater for the iPhone X launch. Paths are being paved, trees are being planted, and auxiliary buildings have been finished in the latest drone video from videographer Matthew Roberts.  Employees started to move into Apple Park in April, and landscaping was supposed to be finished by the end of June. However, the work at this point is mainly ornamental — there are no more road closures around the construction site.  Apple opened part of its... [Read More]
