The oversized load headed to the Calaveras Lake power plant has left Sutherland Springs on US 87 and will pass through La Vernia around 9 a.m. Traffic is flowing around the generator and its entourage, with drivers being directed to pass where it's safe to do so. This generator stator headed to a power plant at Calaveras Lake in Bexar County is on its way to Sutherland Springs, after spending the night near Seguin. It has completed the leg of the journey along F.M. 467 between Seguin and New Berlin, and — although originally set to overnight at F.M. 467 and F.M. 539 — is now traveling on F.M. 539 toward Sutherland Springs. Wilson County Retired School Personnel met Dec. 4 at Baldy's Classic American Diner in La Vernia. Stockdale Independent School District Superintendent Daniel Fuller and Technology Director Billy Polasek reported on progress toward goals set and goals met. These include a savings of $100,000 in electrical costs in the past 11 months, an increase in career and technology classes from 17 offerings to 34, and fiber optics that have increased Internet speeds and capabilities.
