By Anna Holloway For The Oklahoman In honor of Veterans Day and the centennial of Armistice Day, the Canterbury Voices presented Benjamin Britten's "The War Requiem," which combines a Latin requiem mass with poetry by Wilfred Owen, a British soldier of World War I. Owen's poetry offers graphic and detailed descriptions of the "war to end wars." The requiem mass contained ancient texts of mourning and divine love. Bass and tenor soloists presented the voices of two soldiers, one German and one English; the soprano soloist sang the angel of death, resurrection, and redemption. [Read More]
